PURPOSE AND COMPOSITION
CHI*Atlanta is the Atlanta Metro Area chapter of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI), known as Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in the professional world. CHI*Atlanta was founded in 1997, and since that time, the Chapter has grown significantly to support the Metro Atlanta, Georgia and Southeastern areas. Our Chapter and our mother organization, ACM SIGCHI, embraces work on the hardware and software engineering of interactive systems, the structure of communication between human and machine, characterization of the use and contexts of use for interactive systems, methodology of design, and new designs themselves. We provides a wide-ranging forum for the exchange of ideas with others interested in human computer interaction (HCI) from disciplines including:

computer science
psychology
cognitive science
human factors
industrial design
graphic design
anthropology
sociology
management science
software engineering
and more!

CHI*Atlanta participants are interested in keeping up with changes in the rapidly evolving field of human-computer interaction. They lead research and development in the field -- designing and evaluating new user interfaces, making computers easier to use, and extending technology into new domains for new users. CHI*Atlanta provides a local forum for such leaders, offering both corporate sponsorship opportunities for corporate members, and individual membership opportunities for individual professionals and students from a wide range of disciplines and experience levels.

CHAPTER OPERATIONS
CHI*Atlanta is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, with chartered by-laws (Adobe Acrobat Reader required). As a chartered SIG under ACM / SIGCHI, we produce Annual Reports (2002 | 2003) that detail our program offerings, outreach and financial position each fiscal year. Our Chapter is managed by an Executive Council, comprised of Elected Officers/Chairs and Appointed Chairs. Elections for Elected Chairs are held each year, per our Chapter By-Laws.
